Data collection instruments included demographic and background characteristics, the short version of the Health Literacy Adult Questionnaire (HELIA-SF), and the Health-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire (SF-12). Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 23 and descriptive statistics and logistic regression test.
Results: The mean and standard deviation of the scores of quality of life and health literacy were 24.589±3.587 out of 48 and 55.37±3.147 out of 100, respectively, and both were at an unfavorable level. The results of logistic regression showed that education level, amount of physical activity per week, and health literacy were effective factors in having a favorable quality of life.
Conclusion: Quality of life was lower among illiterate patients, patients with lower levels of physical activity, and patients with insufficient health literacy. Therefore, it is suggested to pay more attention to such patients in designing educational programs to improve their quality of life.
